We offer a range of services to enable our residents to maintain their independence and lifestyle. Our services are designed to take into account the practical day-to-day needs of our residents, alongside their emotional and spiritual well-being.

Chalmers Rest Home has captivating sea views and is only a short distance from New Plymouth’s main shopping centres.  The home is close to the coastal walkway and Fitzroy Beaches. 

Day Activity Programme

Chalmers Rest Home provides a day activity programme which is available for older people in the local community. The programme runs on weekdays and activities vary daily.

Respite and Convalescent Care

Caring for a family member at home can be a demanding job, and sometimes carers need a short break to refresh. Chalmers Rest Home welcomes residents who may require short term care. Care is also available for people who are convalescing after surgery or illness. Our staff members are highly trained and are able to care for most medical conditions.

Subsidies are often available from the local District Health Board. Alternatively, this can be arranged directly through us and privately funded.

Rest Home

Our rest home level care offers residents the very best in clinical care, while receiving the benefits of living in our warm, welcoming community. All residents have private rooms with modern decor, where they can enjoy their own possessions.

Premium Rooms

Chalmers Rest Home has several premium rooms available. These rooms are larger and have additional features such as a private bathroom or external access. There is a slightly higher charge for the premium rooms. Regardless of room size, all residents receive the same high quality of service. Please check with the Manager regarding the availability of premium rooms.

Hospital-level Care

Our Hospital level services focus on supporting residents with complex clinical needs. Our staff members are highly trained and are able to care for most medical conditions. We coordinate with local doctors to ensure all medical needs are met, and our nurses are on duty 24 hours a day.
