From our modern, well-equipped facilities, located in a park-like setting adjacent to Wellington Hospital, Te Hopai sets the standard for rest home, dementia and continuing hospital care.

Our fully trained and experienced staff offer quality care enhanced by the following services:

• Your own choice of GP - with house doctors visiting weekly
• Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry and hairdressing services
• Extensive recreational programme, with comfortable mobility transport to social activities and appointments available

• Kowhai Wing - a unit offering specialist dementia care in a safe, secure, yet home like environment
• Priority admission to Te Hopai Hospital if requested, for our rest home and Kowhai Wing residents

We work closely with our residents and their families in making decisions related to daily activities and are committed to ensuring that all residents are treated with respect and dignity.

Rest Home

Te Hopai Home provides rest home level care for 23 residents.  All rooms are single and en-suited. All rooms are fully furnished, but residents are welcome to bring their own furniture and belongings.  The rest home has three lounge areas, two dining rooms, and small quiet lounges. The home has a large courtyard with a well-developed garden for the residents to enjoy.

Hospital

Te Hopai Hospital provides continuing care for 111 residents. 41 residents are located in the main hospital wing and 24 residents in the extension wing which is managed under another team.

All rooms are single and en- suited. The hospital offers a lounge area, dining room and small quiet lounges in a homely atmosphere for residents to use as they desire. All rooms are fully furnished, but residents are welcome to bring their own furniture and belongings.

An additional 47 residents live in the Owen St. Completed in 2016 the building is linked to the main facility and provides larger premium rooms that are bright and sunny with views over the green belt or Newtown. The rooms are full furnished including 32" wall mounted TV's. 

Dementia

We have a 16 bed dementia unit built around an attractive garden and inner courtyard. Residents enjoy two large lounges including a functioning kitchen and outdoor space designed to let them be active and complete tasks they may have done in their own home. Our specially designed layout allows residents to have individual spaces or to interact as they wish, managing their condition more effectively and reducing medication.

We make every effort to provide a home-like environment for our Residents in a relaxed friendly secure atmosphere.

All staff are fully experienced in Alzheimers and related dementia care.
