Residents and their family members typically describe Takanini as having a “homely atmosphere”. With a focus on keeping residents active and entertained, we have a highly motivated team of three Recreational Therapists with a combined twenty-five years aged care experience. Due to specific needs of the residents, the dementia unit has its own Recreational Therapist.

Takanini provides three levels of care covering: rest home, hospital and dementia. This means that if a resident requires a higher level of care, we are able to provide it without them having to move to another facility.

All of Takanini’s Registered Nurses have experience in specialist units, which means a better level of care can be provided – specific to the individual needs of the resident.

Activities Programme

Our 3 Activities staff members provide residents with a wide range of activities, all chosen with the needs of the residents in mind. When possible, activities are also relevant to what is happening in the world and our locality.

Our facility specialises in decorating with an emphasis on current events, such as Anzac Day; Easter, Queen’s Birthday; Mother and Fathers day, Matariki.

We have lovely entertainers that would get your toes tapping and singing. We create an environment of having fun, families are welcome to join in.
