Woburn is a ‘boutique’ rest home and dementia facility with just 33 residents. Our attractive historical building, originally a private hospital, is in the heart of the residential streets of Waipukurau.

Over the years Woburn has been tastefully decorated and many of our rooms have a small sitting area looking out into the beautiful landscape.

Our gardens have won several awards over the years – the roses are magnificent from October through to February/March. Our two resident cats are often also seen drinking from the fishpond (but never trying to catch the fish!).

Residents and families enjoy sitting on the sunny verandah, which has lovely garden views, or strolling around the grounds.

Activities Programme

We have plenty of activities to keep residents occupied if they choose. There are daily exercise sessions, games and quizzes, indoor bowls, and weekly outings on our bus to places of interest or shopping. We also have a weekly happy hour with entertainment, like sing-a-longs and visits from local school children, and interdenominational church services. We enjoy organising special events for our residents, such as mid-year Christmas dinner.

Woburn’s special outings are popular. They include things like a trip to a club for lunch, visit to local farms to see animals or just to enjoy morning tea out somewhere. Recently we organized a trip for the men to a local winery where the owner is an ex-All Black who loves showing off his rugby memorabilia.

Our staff also provide plenty of one-on-one attention to those who don’t feel inclined to join in activities. Movies are available to watch on DVDs.
