Situated in park-like grounds, our dwellings come with their own outdoor areas, providing a great sense of tranquility and space. Conveniently located only minutes ride away in the minibus, which stops at our front gate, Atawhai offers peace and quiet plus a connection to the village.

Our residents say Atawhai has a lovely homely feeling. The staff are friendly and helpful, and love what they do.

Each resident benefits from a personal care plan and is expertly monitored to provide them with the exact level of care they need.

Our dining room with its art deco themed mural, is often the center of activities and events. It’s where lots of visiting entertainers such as singers and musicians perform and themed celebrations take place. For more casual meetings, there’s a sunny nook for catching up with friends, with large windows providing expansive views to the gardens and hills beyond.

Regular weekly activities include church services, bowling, cooking classes and demonstrations, plus the well-attended happy hour and visits to the RSA.  We also keep it social with shared outings to cafes with other homes.

We often base our activities programme around a theme, for example the Maori new year Matariki. Over the duration of the month, we start with a Kapa Haka concert and hangi, followed by demonstrations of flax weaving, poi making, carving and much, much more.
