The Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital is a Charitable Trust located at 10 Ranfurly Road, Epsom, Auckland.

The Trust was established 100 years ago when Mrs Elizabeth Knox died leaving an extremely generous bequest to establish and operate a hospital to care for those in need.

The current facility has 136 beds and provides care across the age continuum - having a long history of providing high quality care for young physically disabled and elders.

Rest Home Care

Knox Home and Hospital has much to offer people looking for Rest Home Care. Residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible within a warm, friendly, safe and well-supported environment. Knox can be a “home away from home” with ready access to comprehensive clinical services should that be required.

At Knox, residents can choose to participate in the many group activities, or to spend time in a quiet nook, indoors or outside in the gardens. Carers offer support to residents in a friendly and helpful way and focus their efforts on strengthening each person’s capability and independence. There exists at Knox a nice balance between a stable routine and spontaneity.

Facilities are available for residents to do their personal laundry, make their own cups of tea, bake a cake, or undertake a personal sewing project, should they so wish. Pets are welcome at Knox if they are an important part of a resident’s life, or for avid gardeners or those who enjoy woodwork there are ample facilities, equipment and willing helpers to support these activities.

Hospital Care

Knox Home and Hospital is recognised as a provider of high quality hospital care for people with high level health and care needs. Not only do residents have 24/7 access to the knowledge and expertise of Registered Nurses, they also benefit from input from the Knox Physiotherapy team and occupational therapists. This ensures that appropriate specialised equipment and wheelchairs are individually prescribed and that an individual plan of care is implemented by the entire team. Knox provides an excellent in-house medical service with prompt attention for those with changing health states and regular review of those whose health remains more stable. The multi-disciplinary team meet regularly to discuss and plan treatment regimes.
