Welcome to Edith Cavell at Sumner

Edith Cavell at Sumner has been caring for residents since 1970, when it was first established as a nursing home. There has been one change of ownership since then and it has been under its current private ownership since 1984.

Edith Cavell offers rest home, hospital, palliative, respite and convalescent care within our home. Independent living is available in our adjacent townhouses.

We have recently undergone an extensive refurbishment programme, with a new wing completed in July 2010. Our architect, Simon Pascoe FNZIA, has designed and worked closely on all aspects of the building. Décor and furnishings have been chosen with great care to reflect individuality, quality and comfort.

The use of different colour schemes in each room add warmth and character, while extensive use of rimu, parquet flooring, coved ceilings, and private access to the garden add to the personality and reputation that Edith Cavell has become known for.
